Descendants: The Musical is a vibrant, family-friendly stage adaptation based on the hit Disney Channel Original Movie series created by Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott. Set in the fantasy kingdom of Auradon, where all the classic Disney heroes live in harmony, the story introduces a new generation of characters: the children of the most infamous Disney villains. The main focus is on four teens—Mal (daughter of Maleficent), Evie (daughter of the Evil Queen), Jay (son of Jafar), and Carlos (son of Cruella de Vil)—who have grown up on the Isle of the Lost, a remote island where villains have been banished.

When Prince Ben, the son of Belle and the Beast, ascends to the throne, he offers these “Villain Kids” a chance at redemption by inviting them to attend Auradon Prep, a prestigious school where the children of heroes, like Audrey (daughter of Aurora) and Chad (son of Cinderella and Prince Charming), are taught to uphold justice and kindness. While the VKs are initially sent to Auradon with a secret plan to steal the Fairy Godmother’s magic wand and free their evil parents, they soon begin to question their loyalties and grapple with who they really want to be.

Through a series of misadventures, friendships, conflicts, and magical mishaps, the VKs learn important lessons about identity, peer pressure, and the difference between destiny and choice. The story is brought to life with dynamic group numbers, heartfelt solos, and powerful themes of acceptance, forgiveness, and personal growth. Songs like “Rotten to the Core,” “Evil Like Me,” “If Only,” “Ways to Be Wicked,” and “Set It Off” deliver memorable musical moments that combine pop, rock, and theater styles.

Designed for young performers but enjoyable for audiences of all ages, Descendants: The Musical is both a celebration of individuality and a message of hope—that who you come from doesn't determine who you are. With colorful costumes, magical effects, and a lively ensemble cast, it offers a modern fairy tale full of heart, humor, and high-stakes adventure.
